Natural Factors Senior's Multi Probiotic provides eight probiotic strains that support digestive health and combat age-related reductions in immune system function. Each strain has been carefully selected for its natural resistance to gastric acid, allowing the probiotics to reach the intestines at full potency. This formula not only offers Lactobacilli to support small intestine health, but also Bifidobacteria, the most prevalent friendly bacteria in the large intestine.
Unfortunately, the populations of these good bacteria, such as B. breve, decline rapidly as we age, leaving us vulnerable to infection by pathogenic organisms. How it works
Bifidobacteria appear to decline after the age of 50, increasing susceptibility to pathogenic colonization and the resulting inflammation, tissue damage, and immune system dysfunction. Bifidobacteria and Lactobacilli have been found to reduce inflammation and digestive discomfort (especially associated with antibiotic use), as well as enhance immune system activity. More recent evidence suggests a role for Bifidobacteria and Lactobacilli in supporting healthy cholesterol levels, blood glucose, blood pressure, and even cognitive function and emotional health.
Each strain in the formula has natural resistance to gastric acids. Gastric resistance is critical to surviving the stomach's acidity without an enteric coating and reaching the intestines at full potency.
